I feel very honored to have received an invitation to photograph the 1st Annual Good Food Awards in San Francisco this past Friday night. The event was held at the historic San Francisco Ferry Building and was organized by Seedling Projects and Dominic Phillips Event Marketing. Award recipients flew in from all across the United States, representing the crafts of beer, preserves, pickling, cheese, coffee, charcuterie, and chocolate. The night was hosted by Chez Panisse’s, Alice Waters, as well as other local and nationally recognized food purveyors and media sponsors. It was beautiful to watch a group of hard-working individuals who have dedicated so much passion to their craft be recognized in front of their peers and heroes. The awards were followed by a taste-testing reception for the ultimate foodie.

My top food picks from the night were:

Café Rouge – Smoked Beef Tongue (Berkeley, CA)

Uplands Cheese – Extra Aged Pleasant Ridge Reserve (Dodgeville, WI)

Charles Chocolates – Salty Sweet Cashew Bar (San Francisco, CA)

Olympic Provisions – Pickled Corno di Toro Peppers (Portland, OR)

Ann’s Raspberry Farm – Savory Brussels Sprout Relish (Fredericktown, OH)

Happy Girl Kitchen – Apricot Chili Jam (Monterey, CA)

The Charles Chocolates Salty Sweet Cashew Bar was so ridiculously tasty that I ended up buying 3 bars just to make sure I was covered during spontaneous chocolate binges. On Saturday the award winners were able to showcase their products to the general public at the 1st Good Food Marketplace.
